Administrators can add materials, sessions, and offerings to the Carnegie Foundation’s Teaching Commons database.
On the Teaching Commons frontend, members can view Featured Sessions and Offerings added by the administrators, filter items by Category and Audience Level, search for Keywords, and browse by Topic.
LOG IN
Enter your Teaching Commons Email and Password at https://teachingcommons.carnegiefoundation.org/admin/ and select Sign In
Select Forgotten it? to reset your password
OPTIMIZE FILES
Optimize your files for uploading on the Teaching Commons
Compress large PDF, video, and image files: https://www.youcompress.com/
Compress PowerPoints:
- From your PPT, select File > Compress Pictures > On-screen (150 ppi) > Okay
- Save your PPT file with a name of fewer than 50 characters
ADD MATERIALS
From the Teaching Commons editing dashboard:
Select Materials to add new materials to the Teaching Commons materials database
Select + Add a Document
- Add the document Title, Collection, Tags, Material type, and Choose File
- Select Upload
The item can now be added to sessions and offerings
ADD A SESSION
From the Teaching Commons editing dashboard:
Select Curated Library
Select Sessions
To add a Master Session, select + Add a Master Session
Core
- Add a session Title
- Check whether or not to make the session public
- Note: All sessions should be set to Private until reviewed by the Communications team
- Add a Version name, Notes, information About this session/offering, a Summary, Notes to facilitators, Google template url, Google srd url, Audiences, Featured image, Number of minutes, and Moves and tools, as appropriate
- Select Save
Authors
- Select the checkboxes beside appropriate Authors for the session
- Select Save
Materials
- Select the checkboxes beside appropriate Materials for the session
- Select Save
Taggables (Categories, etc.)
- Select the checkboxes beside appropriate Subcategories, Categories, Objectives, and Teaching cases for the session
- Select Save
The session has now been added to the Teaching Commons database
To add a Session Version, select the Master Session to which you would like to add a version
Select + Add a Version
Core
- Check whether or not to make the version public
- Note: All versions should be set to Private until reviewed by the Communications team
- Add a Version name
- Add/edit applicable information about the new version
- Select Save
Authors
- Select the checkboxes beside appropriate Authors for the version
- Select Save
Materials
- Select the checkboxes beside appropriate Materials for the version
- Select Save
Taggables (Categories, etc.)
- Select the checkboxes beside appropriate Subcategories, Categories, Objectives, and Teaching cases for the version
- Select Save
The session version has now been added to the Teaching Commons database
ADD AN OFFERING
From the Teaching Commons editing dashboard:
Select Curated Library
Select Offerings
To add a Master Offering, select + Add a Master Offering
Core
- Add an offering Title
- Check whether or not to make the offering public
- Note: All offerings should be set to Private until reviewed by the Communications team
- Add a Version name, Notes, information About this session/offering, a Summary, Notes to facilitators, Google template url, Google srd url, Audiences, Featured image, Number of days, Facilitator’s Agenda, Offering type, Background information, Essential questions, and Prerequisite knowledge, as appropriate
- Select Save
Materials
- Select the checkboxes beside appropriate Materials for the offering
- Select Save
Sessions
- Select the checkboxes beside appropriate Sessions for the offering
- Select Save
Categories/Subcategories/Objectives
- Select the checkboxes beside appropriate Subcategories, Categories, Objectives, and Teaching cases for the offering
- Select Save
The offering has now been added to the Teaching Commons database
To add an Offering Version, select the Master Offering to which you would like to add a version
Select + Add a Version
Core
- Check whether or not to make the version public
- Note: All versions should be set to Private until reviewed by the Communications team
- Add a Version name
- Add/edit applicable information about the new version
- Select Save
Materials
- Select the checkboxes beside appropriate Materials for the version
- Select Save
Sessions
- Select the checkboxes beside appropriate Sessions for the version
- Select Save
Categories/Subcategories/Objectives
- Select the checkboxes beside appropriate Subcategories, Categories, Objectives, and Teaching cases for the version
- Select Save
The offering version has now been added to the Teaching Commons database
