Hub Member Guide

NILS enables network administrators to perform a variety of high-level functions within the platform, from creating driver diagrams to inviting new members. Network administrator capacities include the following:

  • Issue Network Invitations
  • Author and Edit Activities
  • Curate Activities
  • Evaluate New Change Ideas Proposed by Members
  • Update Driver Diagram
  • Change NIC Phase

ISSUE NETWORK INVITATIONS

Contact Susan Haynes, Carnegie's help desk coordinator, at haynes@carnegiefoundation.org with the following information:

  • New member NIC
  • New member name
  • New member email
  • New member role (hub member, member, limited member)

The new member will receive an Invitation to join the network shortly.

AUTHOR AND EDIT ACTIVITIES

Author Activity

In NIC site: Activity Center > Add an Activity

In activity’s conversation hub: select three horizontal grey dots beside blog, micro-blog, or comment to be edited or deleted/unpublished

Contact Susan Haynes, Carnegie’s help desk coordinator, at haynes@carnegiefoundation.org with the following information:

  • Activity’s NIC
  • Activity name

The Activity will be removed from the NIC shortly.

EVALUATE NEW CHANGE IDEAS PROPOSED BY MEMBERS

When a site member submits suggestions and justifications for a new Change Idea through the NILS platform, experts for the change idea’s parent Secondary Driver receive an email notification to their NILS email address with the request to add the change idea.

Change Idea contribution email (suggester name, email, suggestion, idea justification):

Hub members convene and determine whether to accept the change idea

When a Change Idea has been accepted, contact Susan Haynes, Carnegie's help desk coordinator, at haynes@carnegiefoundation.org with the following information:

  • Change idea's NIC
  • Change idea information, including goal, details, resource materials, and drivers beneath which the change idea will appear

The Change Idea will be added to the driver diagram shortly.

UPDATE DRIVER DIAGRAM

Contact Susan Haynes, Carnegie's help desk coordinator, at haynes@carnegiefoundation.org with the following information:

  • Driver diagram's NIC
  • Driver diagram updates, including resource people, materials, change ideas, and any content that should be removed
  • Change idea updates, including goal, details, resource materials, drivers beneath which a change idea appears, and any content that should be removed

The Driver Diagram will be updated shortly.

CHANGE NIC PHASE

Contact Susan Haynes, Carnegie’s help desk coordinator, at haynes@carnegiefoundation.org with the following information:

  1. NIC name
  2. Previous NIC phase (Chartering, Improvement Testing)
  3. Phase to which to change the NIC  (Improvement Testing, Spread)

The NIC phase will be updated shortly.

* Depending on your NIC’s NILS instance and phase, some items may appear differently in the menu bar.
